2007 : The 49th annual Grammy Awards are held in Los Angeles, rewarding recordings released during the Eligibility Year October 1, 2005 through September 30, 2006. Among the winners: Tony Bennett & Stevie Wonder's For Once In My Life in the Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals category.
2007 : Dixie Chicks take home a staggering five awards during the 49th Grammy Awards. Taking the Long Way wins Album of the Year and Best Country Album, while the single "Not Ready to Make Nice" is awarded Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.

2009 : Chris Squire (Yes) undergoes successful surgery on his leg. However, he is advised by his physician that he needs a one month rest period, hence the reason for the cancellation of the rest of the tour dates.

Incidents (2)

1998 : Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses is arrested at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix, charged with threatening a security worker. He would plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace.
2000 : Near the concession area of an Isley Brothers concert in Los Angeles billed as the "Valentine's Super Love Jam," a 24-year-old man shoots three concert-goers and is shot by a police officer working the show. The assailant is killed but his victims survive.

Marriages and Breakups (2)

1965 : Ringo Starr marries his first wife, Maureen Cox, in London's Caxton Hall Register Office, with manager Brian Epstein as best man. John Lennon and George Harrison are also in attendance, as well as the couple's parents and John's wife, Cynthia. (Paul is on vacation in Tunisia.) Afterwards, Ringo and Maureen head off to a honeymoon in Sussex, England.
2000 : Diana Ross officially divorces her husband, Norwegian businessman Arne Naess.

1964 : After playing their first ever US concert, The Beatles attend a party at the British Embassy in Washington where a woman cuts off a lock of Ringo's hair without asking him.

1970 : Ringo Starr's film The Magic Christian, featuring music by Badfinger, premieres in New York City.
1982 : The Rolling Stones Let's Spend the Night Together, a concert film from their 1981 tour, opens in New York to miserable reviews.

1963 : The Beatles: There's A Place, I Saw Her Standing There, A Taste Of Honey, Do You Want To Know A Secret, "Misery, Hold Me Tight, Anna (Go To Him), Boys, Chains, Twist And Shout. The Beatles record all ten tracks for their debut LP in just under ten hours. John's cold makes the process actually take a bit longer than it should; by the time the band gets to the last song of the session, Twist And Shout, the hoarseness is noticible. Nevertheless, John nails it in one take.

1961 : The front page headline in Melody Maker reads: £80,000 Lost On Pirate Juke Boxes. This is a report of a nationwide swoop on bars, cafés, restaurants, clubs, amusement arcades and public houses.
1979 : ABC airs their TV-movie Elvis, starring Kurt Russell.
