1990 : Paul McCartney is honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 32nd annual Grammys.
1990 : Bruce Hornsby and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band win the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Recording. Bruce Hornsby had rearranged a hit song he co-wrote with his brother John called "http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=14572" and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band recorded it for their album Will the Circle be Unbroken vol. 2.

1968 : After making an offer of $150,000, publishing firm McGraw-Hill beats out eight other contenders for the rights to Hunter Davies' authorized biography of The Beatles.
2008 : Paramore cancel a European tour because of "internal struggles." Thankfully, the band doesn't split.
2008 : In what is reported as one of eBay's most expensive sales yet, the online auction house brokers a deal between an unnamed US music collector and an unnamed Irish collector for three million albums and singles in various formats, for a grand total of about one dollar per item.

1966 : Elvis Presley begins filming his 22nd movie, Spinout. He also tells a local Los Angeles paper about the gospel album he's currently working on, eventually titled How Great Thou Art.
1969 : Elvis Presley purchases a Kodak microfilm reader and begins microfilming over 4,000 personal items.
2007 : The movie studio Dreamworks takes out a full-page ad in Variety and The Hollywood Reporter apologizing for (but not exactly admitting to) similarities between their story, adapted from the stage musical, and the book of the same name by former Supreme Mary Wilson, which was a scathing look at the label and head Berry Gordy's reported behind-the-scenes manipulation of artists. Gordy accepts the apology on behalf of the label, which he no longer owns.

2012 : In an an anti-Kremlin protest, three members of the band Pussy Riot perform an impromptu, obscenity-filled song at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour of the Russian Orthodox Church, Moscow. They are promptly ejected, and later arrested for hooliganism, making headlines around the world.
