Steve Miller Gets Surly At Rock Hall Induction
2016Steve Miller, notoriously averse to awards ceremonies, goes on a backstage rant when he is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He says the Hall is like "a private boys club," and lets loose on the organizers. "It's a bunch of jackasses and jerks and f--king gangsters and crooks."
Miller is inducted by The Black Keys, who say, "He made no effort to even figure out who we were." Miller does participate in the ceremony though, unlike Peter Cetera and Ritchie Blackmore, who are inducted with their bands Chicago and Deep Purple, but skip it due to disagreements with current members of those groups. Inducted with less rancor are Cheap Trick and N.W.A. The ceremony includes tributes to the recently deceased David Bowie and Glenn Frey, and ends with a communal jam on "Ain't That A Shame."
