October 24, 2000 Lenny Kravitz releases his Greatest Hits album. Peaking at #2, the release marks his highest entry on the US albums chart. It also features the track "Again," which earns him his third consecutive Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.

October 17, 2000 Limp Bizkit go to Times Square in New York City to celebrate the release of their third album, Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water. They appear on MTV's TRL and sign autographs for some of the 2000 fans who show up to greet them, before heading to the hip-hop station Hot 97 for an interview with Funkmaster Flex. Like their previous album, Significant Other, it debuts at #1 in America.

October 2, 2000 Radiohead release Kid A, the highly anticipated follow-up to their acclaimed 1997 album OK Computer. Issued with no videos or singles, it baffles many listeners but still goes to #1 in many territories, including the US and UK.

September 26, 2000 Good Charlotte release their self-titled debut album.

September 18, 2000 Papa Roach release their breakthrough single, "Last Resort." The track goes on to top the US Modern Rock Tracks chart.

September 12, 2000 Barenaked Ladies release their fifth studio album, Maroon.

September 12, 2000 Lynyrd Skynyrd release Christmas Time Again, their first Christmas album.

September 11, 2000 Huey Lewis and Gwyneth Paltrow release a cover of Smokey Robinson's "Cruisin'" as a duet. The single reaches #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart for a week and also appears in the 2000 film Duets, which stars the pair.

July 25, 2000 LeAnn Rimes releases the Christian-pop single "I Need You" from the soundtrack to the TV miniseries Jesus. It peaks at #11 on the Hot 100 and stays on the chart for 25 weeks.

July 10, 2000 Coldplay release their debut album, Parachutes, in their native UK (it isn't issued in America until November 7). Featuring the singles "Yellow" and "Trouble," it becomes a global smash.

June 27, 2000 Nelly releases his debut album, Country Grammar, with the hit "Ride Wit Me." It's one of the few rap albums to go Diamond, selling over 10 million copies in America.

June 13, 2000 Sinead O'Connor releases Faith and Courage, her first studio album in six years.

June 6, 2000 Rascal Flatts release their self-titled debut album on the new Disney imprint, Lyric Street Records. It sells over 2 million copies in America, the first of five consecutive multi-Platinum albums for the band.

May 22, 2000 Aaron Tippin releases "Kiss This," his third and final #1 hit on the country chart.

May 9, 2000 Bad Religion release their 11th full-length studio album, The New America. It's the band's final release on Atlantic Records and their final recording with drummer Bobby Schayer, who had been a member of Bad Religion since 1991. On The New America, guitarist Brett Gurewitz (who left Bad Religion in 1994, but eventually rejoined the band in the next year) co-wrote the song "Believe It" with frontman Greg Graffin.

April 25, 2000 Papa Roach releases the album Infest, a nu-metal milestone with the hits "Last Resort" and "Broken Home."

March 21, 2000 "Newgrass" trio Nickel Creek release their breakthrough self-titled album, produced by bluegrass star Alison Krauss. The group earns two Grammy nominations: Best Bluegrass Album and Best Country Instrumental for "Ode to a Butterfly."

February 1, 2000 The Christian rock band Skillet release their third studio album, Invincible. It's the band's first release without founding member Ken Steorts, who is replaced by Kevin Haaland on guitar.

January 25, 2000 D'Angelo releases his second album, Voodoo.

January 1, 2000 D'Angelo releases "Untitled (How Does It Feel)," the third single from his second album, Voodoo.

December 21, 1999 DMX releases his third album, ...And Then There Was X. Led by the singles "What's My Name" and "Party Up (Up in Here)," it goes to #1 in America, where it sells nearly 5 million copies.

November 9, 1999 Faith Hill releases her fourth album, Breathe. A huge crossover hit, it debuts at #1 in America and wins a Grammy Award for Best Country Album.

October 19, 1999 Primus issue their sixth studio album, Antipop. The song "Eclectic Electric" features guitar from James Hetfield of Metallica, and Jim Martin, formerly of Faith No More.

September 24, 1999 Sting releases his sixth solo album, Brand New Day. Among the many collaborators is the Algerian singer Cheb Mami, who appears on "Desert Rose."

July 19, 1999 Lou Bega releases his debut album, A Little Bit of Mambo.

June 22, 1999 Limp Bizkit release the nu metal landmark Significant Other, their second album. Lead by the single "Nookie," it debuts at #1 in America, unseating Millennium by Backstreet Boys.

June 1, 1999 Dido releases her debut album, No Angel, in America. It takes off at the end of 2000 after Eminem samples her song "Thank You" on his hit "Stan."
