2019 Tyler, The Creator's offbeat album Igor debuts at #1 in the US, beating the far more traditional and trendy Father Of Asahd by DJ Khaled, the heavy favorite. Igor goes on to win the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.
2013 American Idol alums Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young get married at Los Angeles' Luxe Sunset Boulevard hotel. DeGarmo was a runner-up to Fantasia Barrino in Season 3, while Young was a finalist in Season 5.
2008 A fire at Universal Studios Hollywood destroys thousands of master tapes controlled by Universal Music Group, including recordings by Joni Mitchell, Elton John, B.B. King, Neil Diamond, Nirvana and Eminem. The extent of the loss is not revealed until years later.

2007 Contemporary musicians record their own versions of songs from The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's album to mark 40 years since it was released. Acts including Oasis, Travis, The Fray, Kaiser Chiefs, Razorlight, Bryan Adams and The Magic Numbers all work with Geoff Emerick - the engineer in charge of the original 1967 sessions - using the original analogue 4-track equipment to demonstrate the techniques employed for the recording at Abbey Road studios in 1967.

Ja Rule Releases Debut Album
1999Ja Rule releases his debut album, Venni Vetti Vecci, featuring the hit single "Holla Holla."
Ja Rule is the flagship artist of Murder Inc. Records, an imprint of Def Jam started by Irv Gotti, the producer who proved his mettle on Jay-Z's 1998 single "Can I Get A…" The track also featured the up-and-coming rapper, who wrote the hook, and tagged along with Jay-Z, DMX, and the rest of the Def Jam elite on the Hard Knock Life tour. Venni Vetti Vecci is the debut for both rapper and label, and it doesn't disappoint. Peaking at #3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, the record is certified platinum by the RIAA and spawns the single "Holla Holla" – a #2 hit on the rap chart. Ja Rule becomes a hot commodity, lending his skills to a string of hit duets with Ashanti (another Murder Inc. disciple) and Jennifer Lopez. The record label, however, falls on hard times when Gotti comes under fire for drug dealing and an involvement with organized crime, leading to an investigation by the IRS and expulsion from Def Jam. Gotti relaunches the label in 2013 and rekindles a relationship with Ja Rule with the releases "Fresh Out Da Pen" and "Everything."
