Anthrax Release Among The Living

1987

Anthrax release their third album, Among the Living. The cover shows an image of Henry Kane, a character in the film Poltergeist II: The Other Side, which the band finds terrifying.

The album is dedicated to Cliff Burton of Metallica, who died the previous year. Burton and his Metallica bandmates would sometimes crash on Anthrax's studio floor in their early years; when Metallica became lords of metal, they championed Anthrax, including them on their "Big Four" tours along with Megadeth and Slayer. A highlight of the album is "I Am the Law," a song about Judge Dredd that endears the band to comic book geeks.
