Britney Spears Releases Second Album
2000Britney Spears' second album, Oops!… I Did It Again, is released. It sells 1.3 million copies in its first week, setting a new record for best-selling debut by a female artist.
The title is apropos: like Spears' first single, "...Baby One More Time," the title track is written by the Swedish hitmaker Max Martin and has a very similar sound. Britney's look is more adult though, framed by a red catsuit she wears in the video - no more schoolgirl outfits and braids. The album doesn't reach the dazzling heights of her debut, but it still sells over 10 million copies in America, making her the first female artist to reach that mark with her first two albums.
