Justin Timberlake Is "Lovin' It"

McDonald's launches the "I'm Lovin' It" ad campaign in America, with Justin Timberlake singing the "ba da ba ba bah" hook and releasing a full-length version of the jingle as a single. It becomes the company's longest-running ad campaign.

Timberlake, still riding high from his 2002 debut solo album Justified, not only sings the inescapable "ba da ba ba bah" that makes the campaign so effective, but also releases a song called "I'm Lovin' It" as part of a $6 million deal with McDonald's that also includes sponsorship of his European tour. The campaign catches on quickly, and by the time Timberlake is embroiled in controversy over his role in the 2004 Super Bowl "Wardrobe Malfunction," McDonald's is able to keep it running without him. Some versions of the ad also feature the rapper Pusha T, who later claims he wrote the jingle. In 2022, Pusha puts the Filet-O-Fish on blast in an ad for Arby's.
