February 4, 1962

Country star Clint Black is born in Long Branch, New Jersey, but is raised in Katy, Texas. He releases his debut album, Killin' Time, in 1989 and emerges as one of the few modern country artists to write his own songs. His debut single, "A Better Man," is the first of four #1 singles from the album.

Country singer Clint Black releases his debut album, Killin' Time, led by the hit single "A Better Man." He becomes the first country artist to have their first four singles go to #1 on the Country chart.

February 21, 1990

Country singer Clint Black earns his first pair of Grammy nominations when his debut album, Killin' Time competes for Best Male Country Vocal Performance and "A Better Man" vies for Best Country Song.

December 31, 1990

Clint Black meets Knots Landing star Lisa Hartman backstage at his New Year's Eve concert in Houston. They start dating, and get married just 10 months later. "When you know, you know," says Black.

October 20, 1991

Clint Black marries the singer/actress Lisa Hartman, best known for starring on Knots Landing. The couple met just 10 months earlier when Hartman and her mother attended a New Year's Eve concert Black gave in Houston. Proving the naysayers wrong, their marriage endures.

July 7, 1993

Country singer Clint Black cracks the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time when "A Bad Goodbye," a heart-rending duet with Wynonna Judd, peaks at #43. The song is nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals but loses to the Reba McEntire/Linda Davis ballad "Does He Love You."

November 25, 1999

Clint Black is on hand to help the Salvation Army launch its annual holiday fundraising drive. Black entertains during the third annual "National Kettle Kick-off," a half-time event at the Dallas Cowboys' football game.

May 8, 2001

After a series of pregnancy losses, Clint Black and his wife Lisa Hartman Black welcome their daughter Lily Pearl Black, their only child. Like her parents, she becomes a singer.

May 3, 2009

Clint Black is the eleventh contestant booted off Season 8 of The Celebrity Apprentice.
