November 10, 1983

Country singer Miranda Lambert is born in Longview, Texas. After competing on the reality singing competition Nashville Star, the 21-year-old releases her major-label debut in 2005 and has her first hit with its title track, "Kerosene," a revenge fantasy about killing her cheating ex.

March 8, 2003

It's like American Idol, but country: The singing competition show Nashville Star debuts on the USA network. It lasts six seasons; Miranda Lambert comes in third on Season 1.

March 15, 2005

Nashville Star album Miranda Lambert releases her major-label debut album, Kerosene. The title track, a pyromaniac revenge fantasy, goes to #15 on the country chart and earns her a Grammy nomination for Best Female Country Vocal Performance.

May 1, 2007

Country singer Miranda Lambert releases her sophomore album, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, featuring the Top 10 Country hit "Gunpowder & Lead." The tense tune, which arms the singer with a loaded shotgun in preparation for her abuser's return, is part of a subgenre of country songs about battered women who take revenge on their abusers, such as "Goodbye Earl," and "Independence Day."

Miranda Lambert's "The House That Built Me" reaches #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart. It's the first chart-topping single for the singer, who debuted with "Me and Charlie Talking" in 2004.

Country singer Miranda Lambert wins her first Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance with "The House That Built Me," written by songwriting veterans Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin.

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert get married, forming a country music power couple to rival the Tim McGraw/Faith Hill union. They divorce four years later.

September 5, 2014

Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton open a bed and breakfast called The Ladysmith in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. It can be seen in Blake's video for "Sangria."

January 26, 2019

Miranda Lambert gets married for a second time, tying the knot with police officer Brendan Mcloughlin in a secret ceremony. Lambert, whose first marriage was to Blake Shelton, breaks the news on social media on February 16.
