Tate McRae is born in Calgary. She trains rigorously as a dancer and makes the finals of So You Think You Can Dance in 2016 when she's 13. Very comfortable in front of a camera, she uses her YouTube channel to build a following and transition into music.

September 12, 2016

13-year-old Tate McRae becomes the first Canadian to compete in the finals of So You Think You Can Dance. She comes in third but goes on to find fame, first with a series of dance videos on YouTube and later as a pop star, with hits like "You Broke Me First" and "Greedy."

October 20, 2017

14-year-old Tate McRae, who has built a substantial YouTube following with her dance videos, posts a video of her performing a song she wrote called "One Day." Her fans love it; the video goes viral and earns her a record deal, launching her to pop stardom.

September 15, 2023

Tate McRae releases her breakout hit, "Greedy," a flirty song with a hockey-themed music video that shows off her extensive dance training.

January 30, 2025

A parade of stars including Stevie Wonder, Olivia Rodrigo and Katy Perry perform at the FireAid benefit concerts in Los Angeles to raise money for victims of the California wildfires, which left 29 dead and destroyed thousands of homes. The concert is held at two venues and runs for six hours.More

Tate McRae releases her third album, So Close To What, her first to hit #1 in America. The saucy hit "Sports Car" she attributes to her uninhibited alter ego, Tatiana.
