"See You Again" Video Debuts
2015Two days after Furious 7 is released in theaters, the "See You Again" video, featuring footage from the film, debuts on Facebook and Twitter. The next day, it is posted on YouTube, where it eventually breaks the record for most views, previously held by "Gangnam Style."
The video honors Paul Walker, a star of The Fast and the Furious franchise who died midway through filming the movie. The final scene is the same in both: Walker and his co-star Vin Diesel driving side-by-side before they diverge, with Walker riding into the sunset. The song is a collaboration between Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa; when Puth posts it on Twitter, it gets 7 million views in the first two hours. On Facebook, it is posted to Vin Diesel's page, where it gets 40 million views in 12 hours. "Pablo, this weekend you turned the world into a family... Thanks for the love," Diesel writes. The next day, the song is posted to YouTube, where two years later, it breaks the record for most views previously held by PSY's "Gangnam Style."
