October 27, 2007 Led by the "Werewolves Of London"/"Sweet Home Alabama" mashup "All Summer Long," Kid Rock's Rock N Roll Jesus hits #1 in America, giving him his first chart-topping album.

October 23, 2007 Robert Plant and Alison Krauss's Raising Sand debuts at #2 in America. Plant, 59, turned down a Led Zeppelin reunion tour to focus on the project.

July 28, 2007 "Hey There Delilah" by Plain White T's hits #1 in America two years after it was first released. "Delilah" is the runner Delilah DiCrescenzo, who lead singer Tom Higgenson was trying to impress with a song.

May 5, 2007 Avril Lavigne lands her only US #1 hit with "Girlfriend," the first single from her third album, The Best Damn Thing.

April 7, 2007 Beyoncé's "Beautiful Liar," featuring Latin-pop star Shakira, breaks the record for the highest leap on the Billboard Hot 100 when it jumps 91 places to #3. The record was previously held by Akon, whose "Smack That," featuring Eminem, rose from #95 to #7 (ultimately peaking at #2) in 2006.

March 3, 2007 Robin Thicke tops four different Billboard charts, thanks to his second album, The Evolution of Robin Thicke. The album is at #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums tally, while "Lost Without U" tops the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, and Hot Adult R&B Airplay charts.

February 6, 2007 Fall Out Boy drift from their pop-punk roots with their third studio album, Infinity On High, by incorporating elements of funk, R&B, and flamenco. The album debuts at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, bolstered by the hit single "This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race."

October 24, 2006 Taylor Swift releases her self-titled debut album, a collection of country-pop tunes the singer wrote during her freshman year of high school. Led by the Top 20 single "Tim McGraw," it peaks at #5 on the Albums chart and becomes the longest-charting album of the 2000s in the US, logging 157 weeks by 2009.

October 21, 2006 Weird Al Yankovic's "White & Nerdy," a parody of Chamillionaire's "Ridin'," peaks at #9 on the Hot 100 to give Al his only Top 10 hit (surprisingly, "Eat It" only reached #12).

February 28, 2006 Ne-Yo's first album, In My Own Words, debuts at #1 in America.

December 10, 2005 Just six monts after topping the chart with Mezmerize, System Of A Down's album Hypnotize goes to #1 on America, giving them two #1 albums in the same calendar year.

October 22, 2005 The Strokes make their first and only appearance on the Billboard Hot 100 when "Juicebox" peaks at #98. The First Impressions Of Earth single fares much better in the UK, where it lands at #5.

June 4, 2005 System Of A Down's fourth album, Mezmerize, goes to #1 in America. Six months later, their next album, Hypnotize (recorded in the same sessions), takes the top spot.

May 7, 2005 This s--t is bananas: Gwen Stefani hits #1 in America with "Hollaback Girl." The song has a cheerleader theme, and Stefani (looking impressive in the outfit at 35) plays one in the video. She wasn't a cheerleader in high school - she played piccolo in the marching band.

February 19, 2005 Good Charlotte's "I Just Wanna Live" peaks at #51 on the Billboard Hot 100.

February 5, 2005 "Helena" by My Chemical Romance peaks at #33 on the Hot 100. It's the alt rock band's first big crossover hit.

January 1, 2005 Ne-Yo earns his first #1 hit as a songwriter when "Let Me Love You," performed by Mario, seizes the top spot for the first of nine weeks. Billboard ranks the song as the eighth most successful single of the decade.

July 13, 2004 Jimmy Buffett releases License To Chill, his 21st studio album. It's mostly a collection of duets with fellow country stars, including Martina McBride, Kenny Chesney, and George Strait. It's also his first album to go to #1 in the US.More

June 14, 2003 "Bring Me To Life," the debut single from Evanescence, hits #1 in the UK and stays for four weeks. The song peaks at #5 in America.

May 31, 2003 50 Cent's second single, "21 Questions," tops the chart for the first of four weeks. Featuring Nate Dogg on the chorus, the song explores 50's romantic side, as he asks a girl if she would be there for him through thick and thin.

April 19, 2003 Good Charlotte's "The Anthem" peaks at #43 on the Billboard Hot 100.

April 8, 2003 Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis Presley, releases her first solo album, To Whom It May Concern. It debuts at #5 in America.

February 15, 2003 Good Charlotte's "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" peaks at #20 on the Billboard Hot 100, the highest they would get on the chart.

February 8, 2003 The Faux-lesbian duo t.A.T.u. hits #1 in the UK with "All The Things She Said," becoming the only Russian act ever to top the chart.

January 25, 2003 Thanks to a raft of Grammy nominations, Norah Jones' debut album Come Away With Me goes to #1 in America 11 months after it was released. It stays on top for three weeks, then returns the week of March 15 after winning the Grammy for Album of the Year.
