Minutes after an Ariana Grande concert ends at the Manchester Arena in England, a suicide bomber detonates a device, killing 22 and injuring at least 60 others in an act of terrorism.
The bomber is 22-year-old Salman Abedi, a Manchester resident with family in Libya. Grande suspends her Dangerous Woman tour and puts together the "One Love Manchester" benefit concert, held a few miles from the Arena, which raises over $3 million with performances by Coldplay, Katy Perry, and several other stars. The tour resumes in Paris on June 7. "We will never be able to understand why events like this take place because it is not in our nature, which is why we shouldn't recoil," Grande posts. "Our response to this violence must be to come closer together, to help each other, to love more, to sing louder and to live more kindly and generously than we ever did before."
