August 31, 1994 R. Kelly, 27, marries 15-year-old Aaliyah at the Sheraton hotel in Rosemont, Illinois (her age on the marriage certificate is listed as 18). The marriage is annulled when Aaliyah's family finds out, and few details emerge as neither party will talk about it publicly. Kelly, who produced Aaliyah's debut album Age Ain't Nothing but a Number, which was released before their wedding, tells GQ in 2016: "I can tell you I loved her, I can tell you she loved me, we was very close."

August 1, 1994 Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley announce that they are married, having wed at a secret ceremony in the Dominican Republic 11 weeks earlier.

May 30, 1992 Paul Simon marries Edie Brickell, a singer known for her song "What I Am," at a small ceremony in Montauk, Long Island. Simon, who was previously married to Carrie Fisher, is 26 years older than Brickell.

April 29, 1992 Paula Abdul marries actor Emilio Estevez in what at the time is an A-list union. The marriage lasts two years.

February 24, 1992 Kurt Cobain of Nirvana and Courtney Love of Hole are married in Hawaii, with a non-denominational, female minister conducting the ceremony.

November 24, 1991 Cyndi Lauper marries the actor David Thornton. Little Richard, who is an ordained minister, presides over the ceremony and performs at the reception.

October 6, 1991 Michael Jackson gives Elizabeth Taylor away to Larry Fortensky during her eighth wedding, held at Jackson's 2,700-acre Neverland estate near Los Angeles.

June 8, 1991 Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa get married. They have three children together.More

April 28, 1990 Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses marries Erin Everly (daughter of Don Everly of The Everly Brothers) at Cupid's Inn Chapel in Las Vegas. The rocky union lasts just nine months.

June 2, 1989 Rolling Stones bass player Bill Wyman, 52, marries 18-year-old Mandy Smith in a 15-minute civil ceremony held at a registry office in Suffolk, England. The only witnesses are Smith's sister and Wyman's son. A proper celebration takes place three days later.More

The couple split up a year later, but resume their relationship in less formal terms throughout much of the '80s.

April 11, 1981 Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen marries actress Valerie Bertinelli. They separate in 2001 and divorce in 2007. Their son, Wolfgang, goes on to become the bass player in his dad's group.

September 9, 1979 Two years after converting to Islam, Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens) enters into an arranged marriage with Fauzia Ali. The couple raise five children, strictly adhering to the Muslim faith.

August 18, 1979 Nick Lowe marries Johnny Cash's stepdaughter, country singer Carlene Carter, in Los Angeles. The wedding is reenacted in Lowe's video for "Cruel To Be Kind." The pair get divorced in 1990.

March 27, 1979 Eric Clapton marries George Harrison's ex-wife Pattie, the subject of the song "Layla." Harrison attends the wedding and remains friends with Clapton.More
