October 31, 1991 After meeting up at their ex-manager's funeral, Spinal Tap announce a reunion. "It was destiny and also because none of us were really making a great amount of money," bass player Derek Smalls says.

July 17, 1991 Fourteen years after the deadly crash of Lynyrd Skynyrd's Baton Rouge-bound aircraft, the surviving members of the band, reunited under the name "Lynyrd Skynyrd 1991," return to the Louisiana city to kick off a new tour. Shirts sold for the event read, "Baton Rouge! After 14 years! We're finally here..."More

February 24, 1990 At the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, The Byrds' David Crosby, Roger McGuinn, and Chris Hillman reunite for a tribute concert honoring the recently deceased Roy Orbison and raising money to support the homeless, a cause Orbison was passionate about. Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, John Fogerty and Bonnie Raitt are also on the bill; the concert is later broadcast as a Showtime special.

July 10, 1989 The Monkees get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. At the ceremony, all four Monkees reunite for the first time - Mike Nesmith was a holdout on their reunion tour.

November 14, 1987 The long-since-divorced Sonny and Cher perform "I Got You Babe" on Late Night with David Letterman.More

September 6, 1987 At the Starwood Ampitheater in Nashville, Lynyrd Skynyrd reunite for a tour to mark the 10th anniversary of the plane crash that killed lead singer Ronnie Van Zant and guitarist Steve Gaines.More

August 11, 1986 The Monkees, on a reunion tour, have an amazing six albums on the Billboard 200. The highest is The Monkees at #92.

July 20, 1986 Santana celebrate their 20th anniversary with a massive group reunion, as all 17 current and former members play a concert in San Francisco.

March 10, 1984 Deep Purple reunite with the Mark II lineup of the band, which includes guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and lead singer Ian Gillan. The band has been dormant since 1976, and this lineup last played together in 1973. They take a break in 1989 and Blackmore leaves in 1993, but the core of the group stays intact into the 2020s.

September 23, 1983 Ten years after their bitter breakup, The Everly Brothers reunite for a concert at Royal Albert Hall in London that is released as the double album Reunion Concert.

March 27, 1979 Eric Clapton marries George Harrison's ex-wife Pattie, the subject of the song "Layla." Harrison attends the wedding and remains friends with Clapton.More

September 6, 1976 Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis reunite after 20 years on Lewis' Labor Day Telethon to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Frank Sinatra surprises Lewis by bringing out Martin.More

October 18, 1975 Saturday Night Live airs its second episode, hosted by Paul Simon, who gets most of the airtime.More

October 18, 1969 Promoter Richard Nader puts on the first "Rock and Roll Revival" concerts, with performances by Chuck Berry, The Coasters, The Shirelles, Sha Na Na and Bill Haley. Held at Madison Square Garden's Felt Forum, the two shows sell out, leading to a series of similar concerts and the emergence of the "oldies" format.More

January 1, 1966 Simon & Garfunkel reunite after a reworked version of their song "The Sound Of Silence" hits #1 in the US.More

April 13, 2024 At Coachella, two of the biggest ska bands of the '90s reunite: Sublime and No Doubt. Sublime is fronted by Jakob Nowell, whose father Brad was the group's lead singer until his death in 1996. For No Doubt, it's their first show since 2015.

November 2, 2013 'N Sync reunites for Chris Kirkpatrick's wedding, as his four bandmates serve as groomsmen for his nuptials to Karly Skladany.

August 25, 2013 'N Sync reunite to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards, where group member Justin Timberlake accepts the Video Vanguard Award. It's their first performance since 2004; they don't perform again until 2024, when they make a surprise appearance at one of Timberlake's concerts.
