December 19, 1991 In Venice, California, punk icon Henry Rollins (ex-Black Flag) and his good friend Joe Cole are held up at gunpoint after returning home from a Hole concert. Cole is shot and killed, but Rollins escapes. In subsequent liner notes and books, Rollins includes the line "Joe Cole 4.10.61 - 12.19.91" in tribute. The assailants are never caught.
